Character Information
Character Name: Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore
Fandom: Harry Potter/Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

Character History: Everything up to 1903 pertains. I will list it below for ease:

"Early Life (1881-1892)

Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore was born to Kendra and Percival Dumbledore in the summer of 1881, in the mainly wizarding village of Mould-on-the-Wold. The early years of Dumbledore's life were marked by tragedy when his younger sister, Ariana Dumbledore, was attacked by a group of Muggle boys, who saw her performing magic and were frightened by what they saw.

Ariana was left mentally and emotionally scarred by the event and her magical powers were left severely altered and would manifest themselves on rare occasions usually in random or destructive ways. Albus's father, Percival Dumbledore, was heartbroken and set out in search of his own brand of justice. He located the Muggle boys and attacked them, as they had his daughter. For this, Percival was sentenced to Azkaban where he later died, choosing the sentence over explaining why he had attacked the boys as it would have meant Ariana being taken away.

To escape the accusing eyes of the wizarding world, Kendra Dumbledore moved her young family to the village of Godric's Hollow which, like Mould-on-the-Wold, was a mainly wizarding village. Kendra rebuffed all her neighbours, with the eventual exception of Bathilda Bagshot, preferring to be left alone: and Albus learned not to mention his sister or father in public.

Hogwarts Years (1892-1899)

Dumbledore began attending Hogwarts in the autumn of 1892 and was Sorted into Gryffindor house. Dumbledore's first year was met with much whispering about his father's crime. Many of Albus's fellow students mistakenly believed that, like father like son, Albus too hated Muggles. Some praised his father's actions, hoping to gain his trust, but they would not find favour with the young Dumbledore this way. Though later in his young life, under the influence of his love for Gellert Grindelwald, some anti-Muggle prejudice did develop, but he soon saw the error of his intent.

He befriended a young Elphias Doge on his first day at Hogwarts; Doge was suffering from the aftermath of Dragon Pox at the time (greenish skin and pockmarks), which discouraged most from approaching him. Dumbledore, however, demonstrated his uncommon kindness and willingness to look past the surface and find inner beauty in people. Dumbledore also became very well-connected during his Hogwarts years, making notable friends such as Nicolas Flamel, Bathilda Bagshot, and Griselda Marchbanks, who marked him in his N.E.W.T.s for Charms and Transfiguration and later recalled that he did things with a wand that she had never seen before. He also had several of his papers published during his studies.

During his school years, Dumbledore won the Barnabus Finkley Prize for Exceptional Spell-Casting, became the British Youth Representative to the Wizengamot, and received the Gold Medal for Ground-Breaking Contribution to the International Alchemical Conference in Cairo.

In his third year, Dumbledore presumably took Study of Ancient Runes and at least one other subject, which is known not to be Divination.

During his fourth year, Dumbledore "accidentally" set the bed-curtains in his dormitory on fire (although he admitted that he had never liked them anyway).

Albus was made a prefect during his fifth year and was made Head Boy in his seventh year. He was considered the most brilliant student to have attended the school.

Tragic Friendship (1899)

After graduating from Hogwarts in June 1899, Dumbledore planned to take the traditional "Grand Tour" of the world with his friend Doge. However, tragedy ensued on the eve of the departure when Kendra Dumbledore was killed by an outburst of Ariana's uncontrollable magic, leaving Albus the head of his own broken family and now in charge of his younger siblings.

Albus returned to Godric's Hollow full of bitter resentment at his situation, feeling trapped and wasted, although he refused to let Aberfoth quit school and insisted he complete his education first before taking care of Ariana. Fortune finally shone on Dumbledore in the form of Gellert Grindelwald, who was in Godric's Hollow to research the Deathly Hallows. Grindelwald was as talented and brilliant as Albus was. Dumbledore quickly became fascinated by Grindelwald's ideas of wizarding domination, obviously considering Grindelwald an unexpected new chance to show his own brilliance and come out of the local misery. They both made a blood pact swearing to never fight each other. Albus also harboured romantic feelings for the other boy but regretted his relationship with Grindelwald later in life.

However, after two months, Albus's brother Aberforth, having been disgusted with Albus for his plans and concerned of the fact that he and Ariana will have to be dragged over, angrily confronted him over his neglect of Ariana over the past few weeks, bluntly telling him he couldn't carry out his plans with Grindelwald, as he would have to take her with him, which brought Albus back to reality despite not wanting to hear the truth of the words his younger brother shouted at him. Grindelwald then used the Cruciatus Curse on him. A violent duel erupted between the three teenage boys. Ariana herself tried to intervene in the fight, but couldn't due to her erratic abilities, and in the ensuing chaos was hit by a stray curse and died. No one knew whose curse it was that killed her, but Grindelwald fled immediately, as he already had a bad record back home, leaving the devastated Albus and Aberforth behind. Aberforth resented Albus and they had a strained relationship, with Aberforth punching Albus and breaking his nose at Ariana's funeral. Aberforth never knew of the great guilt and regret Albus would feel for the rest of his life about his part in Ariana's death."

Character Personality: Albus has yet to become the grand sage he will be when he meets Harry Potter, yet the seeds of that man are present within him. Despite his already exceptional accomplishments, he is remarkably humble and well aware of his failings. The time he spent with Gellert and Ariana's death obviously deepened his understanding of all of his negative aspects, so Albus is more burdened than ever in that regard. However he is, if anything, a survivor. It would be easy to succumb to depression and disappear into the crowd, but he has plans to teach. Another child like himself may come along and if he can help guide them - so they don't make the same mistakes he did - he will consider that a victory.

However he needs a few more years under his belt before he can become a Hogwarts professor. As such, he is using his time to explore the world, learn what he can of more obscure magic and also, sadly, doing his utmost to keep an eye on his once companion, Grindelwald. He fears war is on the horizon and it is highly likely that he is the only one that can rival Gellert's power. If it weren't for the Blood Pact*, he could move against him, but that magic binds him.

Of course, his heart binds him too.

Albus is a man of high morals - he understands right from wrong - yet he has a big heart too and it can be led astray (as he well knows). Thus he is cautious about loving others; while he is polite to a fault and generally calm, there are few that he truly loves. But who can blame him after losing most of his family and a man that was far closer than any friend or brother?

Furthermore he has a tendency to hide his anger - even when he is furious - for fear of relying on magic again to speak for him. Albus is determined to use his words in such situations unless he is pushed to defend himself or others. All he need do is remember poor Ariana and that is enough to stay his hand. Yet his anger is fiery and there are times he must visibly fight himself for control - sometimes removing himself from the presence of others entirely to manage it.

Thus while Albus is exceptional (a genius powerhouse even), he has been through a lot of tragedy recently that has taught him he is not invincible nor is he unaware that he shouldn't be making decisions for others. Being powerful, being smart does not give anyone the right to lord over others. Everyone has a voice - whether they are magically inclined or not - and he wants to hear them; he wants to be open and accepting to all walks of life - not bitter or egotistical like a certain Dark wizard.

* "During their teenage years, Albus Dumbledore and Gellert Grindelwald made a Blood Pact where they swore an oath never to fight each other. By 1927, Grindelwald still possessed the vial from this pact to protect it from Dumbledore, so that Dumbledore would not be able to ever attack him directly. However, the pact was a double-edged sword, as while it protected Grindelwald from Dumbledore, it also prevented Grindelwald himself from personally eliminating Dumbledore, the greatest threat to his cause."

Powers and Abilities: Dumbledore was an outstandingly talented wizard, even while still only a student of Hogwarts, excelling in many fields of magic to the point of quickly being recognised as the most brilliant student to ever attend the school, possibly rivaled only by the prodigiously brilliant Tom Riddle, and attaining many awards and prizes that required incredible magical capability to obtain. As an adult, Dumbledore became an extraordinarily powerful and accomplished wizard of nearly unrivaled abilities and powers, being admired and feared by even others of outstanding magical talent, to the point of being considered to be the greatest wizard of all time by many.

To summarize, he is an intellectual genius, a nearly unrivaled duelist, an expert in Defense Against the Dark Arts and the Dark Arts, a trained Occlumens and Legilimens, a highly proficient user of wandless magic, a talented creator of spells, he has an affinity with elemental magic and an uncanny ability to master foreign languages (especially with magical creatures); he is an expert in Transfiguration, Charms, Potions, Alchemy and Care of Magical Creatures, knowledgeable about magical substances, well-versed in History of Magic, Divination, Muggle Studies, Study of Ancient Runes and Herbology, accomplished with healing magic, Apparation and flying and he is quite knowledgeable about wandlore.

Network: [He is calm and composed, putting his best foot forward. However a keen eye can see that he doesn't look...quite...well.]

I sought adventure when I left the hallowed halls of Hogwarts, but this...

This isn't what I had in mind.

[A Gryffindor must rise to the occasion, right?]

My name is Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore and I forgive you if you can't remember all of it. Some days I have trouble with it myself! I go by Albus - to make it easier for all of us - and I am a wizard.

[This isn't the world he knows, so why not be open about it? The Statute of Secrecy can't reach him here.]

Well met, new friends.

Third Person: He was usually far better at directing his Apparation! Albus froze, staring at the unfamiliar surroundings with open wonder. He could safely say - to the best of his considerable knowledge - that he was nowhere in Europe. Or Asia for that matter. A place like this would surely be detailed extensively somewhere.

Glancing down, he noticed he had drawn his wand. Well, so be it. Albus gritted his teeth and took a deep breath. Images of green light and -

No, don't. He wouldn't find death here; he wouldn't be drawn into a duel here, either. No matter what, he had to find another way to protect himself and others in a fray.

But maybe this was a peaceful place. Swallowing a rush of nerves, he straightened his back and took his first steps in a world he hadn't even known existed. Since it was night, he lit the tip of his wand with a quick, quiet lumos. The circle of light was comforting and he peered around one of the strange buildings, searching for...

He didn't know. Foes? Secrets? Whatever he thought might be there wasn't, thankfully - for the former anyway. Albus could never turn down a good secret. Flicking his wand, he lit the alleyway with a burst of sparks and decided to take a chance. If he felt threatened, he could always Apparate somewhere...else. Higher, perhaps. Roofs were good; people rarely paid them any notice.

The fact that the plaintive meow of a cat nearly caused him to jump - Apparate - onto the nearest roof told him his nerves were wound far too tight.

"Greetings." he sighed and knelt down, transfiguring some pieces of refuse into a plate of fish, "You are the first friend I've made!" he rubbed the cat's back, causing them to arch adorably, "Eat your fill and leave the rest for your companions, hm?"
